suddenly, new error...
« on: June 08, 2017, 06:32:09 pm »

been printing on this system for years, never seen this before, and of course down to the wirde on a job. Nothing unusual about this job.
Windows 7
StudioPRint RIP
Epson 9880

Printer stops partway through job, then this pops up-

"error sending data to Epson (xxxxx-printer name)
Error 3020
the requested print job has failed to print . A system update requires the job to be resubmitted"

Google searches, nothing so far.
any ideas at all?
Thanks in advance.

Are you connected to the printer via WiFi?

no, hardwired on local network. always worked fine. But you may be in the ballpark, now thinking all the connections need to be cleaned and resecured, been collecting dust for some time. Why, does it sound like a communication problem? Thanks

"error sending data to Epson" sounds like a communication problem.
Try using USB. If that works it is a network problem.

Can you send a screenshot of the error? I don't think this is a printer error as such.

that's all for your comments, you pointed me in the right direction. It was indeed a communications problem, and as simple as cleaning, resecuring, and fidgeting that flakey network connector Epson continues to put on their LF printers. Up and running now.

Glad you're up and running . . .

If the RJ45 port on the printer seems "flakey", have a look to ensure none of the pins have been flattened.  This usually happens when someone accidentally puts a USB cable into that port (unfortunately, they fit, but they just push the pins down :( ).

It shouldn't be particularly loose.

thanks for your input Phil, however I've already been through this issue on this forum. I've had many LF Epsons from the 9600 on, that jack has always indeed been flakey, right out of the box. I should have suspected it was the culprit from the beginning. Just want to clarify in case any one else is searching about the same problem.
