New PC Drive Confusion
« on: May 25, 2017, 11:24:32 am »

Hello,

I recently set up a new Windows 10 Pro 64Bit PC, and my drive configuration is a bit confusing. I have all my RAW files on a Drobo, and when I connected the Drobo to my PC it added it as Drive K. But when I open my computer and look at the drives it shows two K Drives. I'd like to clear this up, but am not sure how to accomplish that without losing my data.

I've attached a jpeg from a screenshot.

Thanks for any help.

nothing to worry about

Its a "feature" of windows 10. you'll notice that one of the drives is nested under 'This PC' whilst the other isnt. they are both links to the same drive

Microsoft just wanted to give quick access to removable storage without having to have the user expand 'This PC'

If it really bothers you, there is a registry edit you can make to turn this off. Personally I just ignore it.

Thanks, Endeavour. I'll leave things just as they are.
