The truck adds cultural dimension.

Flash in a snoot?

No, the light fixture got washed out in the exposure. The light source was one of those ultra bright LEDs. Admittedly, I "dodged" out a part of the fixture--an unrecognizable and distracting element.

I took the photo early this morning, shortly after midnight. The air was still although lightning flashed far off. About a half hour later, a storm cell passed over. We've been getting some rain on the gulf side, a welcome relief from the drought.

Many of our neighbors are vets. At my father's funeral, an air force vet played taps and after, two vets presented us a flag. My Dad was an officer and a Korean vet. ... I gave the flag to another neighbor who served three tours--one in Afghanistan and two in Iraq. He is a munitions expert and is now virtually deaf. A brave and courageous fellow, he does not have an easy time of it now. Despite my antipathy regarding our country's involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, I honor those who've served and continue to. Historically, a soldier with good intentions is often in an entirely different league than a misguided politician.

The "jacked up" truck is not my thing. And it's easy to stereotype people who own them. However, more than a couple fellows along my street have similar vehicles. They are nice, and we get along fine. Granted, some who own such vehicles have run me off the road. Despite that, my father taught me not to jump to hasty conclusions. So long as people are respectful of others, who am I to judge?
