Hardware 6500K or Software 6500K Calibration
« on: August 14, 2006, 02:16:43 pm »

Hi, I have a 21" Samsung 1100p that I calibrate with Colorvision Optical Spyderpro.

I am trying to get a Gamma of 2.2, white point of 6500K and luminance of 0.30 black and 90.0 white.

My question is: On my monitor (hardware settings on the actual monitor) I have scale I can choose the white point, from about 5000K to about 9200K.

If I am using PreCal and getting the RGB Gunns the same is it important that the hardware be set to 6500K or can it be set to whatever will give me the readings I want when I calibrate with the Colorvision software?

The reason I ask this is because I find it easier to reach my targets with Optical if I set my hardware whitepoint to 6300K instead of 6500K and then calibrate to the settings above.

I hope you understand what I am trying  get at.
