Looking forward to seeing the test results for both lenses, and especially how they compare to each other and their Canon/Sigma/Nikon rivals in the 16-24mm range. It's not often that I need 16mm f/2.8 - edge-to-edge sharpness at f/5.6-f/11, lack of CA and lack of coma are more critical for most UWA uses.

I'll post the announcement of the lens plus numerous examples of images from both lenses on Friday.  I'm at a Sony event in Santa Barbara, CA that is more like a luxury campground.  No Wifi so all web use is on 4G.  Obviously, upload speeds will not allow me to load images.  Look for an article Friday.  The lenses, by the way, are really nice.

If, when the reviews start coming up in September, the 16-35 delivers, it will be a really interesting lens for me. If it has good coma performance at f2,8 it will be perfect. A lots of if... Also I will probably wait for 2018 to see if the prices go down a bit from official MSRP in Europe, like the 24-70...

They are for sure on a roll.

Kevin, looking forward to your impressions. BTW, I just posted the same announcement on the "Compact system cameras" forum, I suppose it was the correct one. I think maybe it's time to merge the two fora?

I agree... makes no sense now, after buying the 24-70 GM I can not consider my A7 system "Compact" really :)

'APS-C' and 'Full-frame' would make more sense than 'mirrorless' and 'SLR'

I'd like to see how the 12-24 compares with the Canon 11-24 and Nikon 14-24 sharpness-wise, especially in the corners.

At such focal lengths, I'm shooting static scenes and able to focus manually anyway, so could use any of those lenses. But only the native lens can provide automatic CA and distortion correction, so I'd prefer to use the Sony lens if it is equally sharp.
