Jack in the pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum) is a common woodland plant in Maryland and much of the northeastern US. It is a favorite of mine, and a plant that I always associate with springtime. The plant emerges in late March, with its single blossom appearing near the end of April. I photographed this one while on a hike in Oella, Maryland this past week.
