Some chance yesterday.

Which one do you prefer?!
Any advice welcome.

Have a Nice Day.

Hard to say why but I prefer the first one. Both are spectacular, though.

The first is my choice, too. The tree and roof make a more interesting base for the rain curtain than in the second.

The first one for me it has a delicacy of form in the rain curtain that is obviously at odds with the soaking that is happening under it, but as has been said both are great. Ken

Yes the 2nd is more spectacular, but I think you're right about the more interesting "base" and delicacy of the first.

Have a Nice Day.

Nice. I might also have tried a landscape orientation to set the rain in context.

The line of the silhouette is much more interesting as a shape...with the house and the round fan of the tree...this more engaging. The other image loses because the silhouette line is more bland. Combining the stronger silhouette with the very nice image of the shower movement makes for a better stronger and more interesting composition.
