Were they not allowed before? I'd say it's ok by me but don't confuse me for someone in charge!
My hope for this thread was avoid the snapshot style phone pics and have us post pet pictures that you have put effort into to get the best results.

They were expressly forbidden.  :)

That shot of Hamish (the orange cat near the top of this thread) is from my Samsung phone. I don't think I could have gotten the shot with any other camera.

LOL! Well, I must have missed that. I would think quality photos of any subject should be welcomed but it isn't my site.

I believe it was Michael Reichman himself who initially "banned" cat photos, but even he never enforced the ban.
I posted at least one cat photo back then and it wasn't removed.

Well this thread is still alive!

I think if this thread is a place to put and discuss pet photos that were taken with care and maybe some discussion about how to achieve good ones or make them better, it might be a good contribution to the community here.
I didn't put any effort into pet shots this weekend so I have no new images to share today. Maybe tomorrow...

VC wandered into my shot yesterday...

Contemplating his existence? Reminds me of Henri.

VC wandered into my shot yesterday...
... and captured the focus away from that fence.
Clever creature.

Beautiful. What's harder to photograph than black animals?  Light sponges.

I used a monoblock strobe with a deep rotalux modifier. I also used a photoflex reflector. She was a wonderful pal. She lived a good life.

My dog (Eric the Old English Sheepdog) has been gone nearly five years now. Still miss him so much. Wife refuses any talk of a new dog, so I just borrow them from friends.

It takes time.  Everyone grieves differently. We lost our dog on 28 July.  Within a week, my wife was ready to replace her, but I was still grieving.  I am glad you are giving your wife time for her grief.

Dogs are not like a family member, they are a family member.

What about a black animal, in black & white?

Nicely done. She looks like she was a sweet pup.

My condolences and I know how you feel. We took a 7 year break between dogs before getting Luna.

Jazz: 2000 to 2016.

Love it. Glorious textures, and a haunting expression.
