Not technically my pet, but what the hell. Six weeks old, belonging to friends in Ireland with whom I stayed last weekend.

My dog (Eric the Old English Sheepdog) has been gone nearly five years now. Still miss him so much. Wife refuses any talk of a new dog, so I just borrow them from friends.

Lovely dog. ... I am hoping to invite another canine to join our family. ... It is difficult to find a good match--sort of like dating.

VC looking morose while reflecting on people shooting each other, f/2 depth of field, and the limitations of jpg for capturing out of focus fur.

Cuteness factor combined with a nice composition of the dog looking off scene, gives you a bye on the blatant violation of the thread rules.  LoL

Seriously, nice shot!!

I couldn't resist.  It is important to have a cat when living in the mountains!  I absolutel adore my cat.

Bill, my sincerest condolences. We lost our first Elkhound over 20 years ago and I still miss him and get very emotional on his anniversary.

For pest control?
I love my cats too but find living in the mountains tends to make their lives shorter, at least around here. Foxes, coyotes, and the occasional big cat are never far.

Our cat Hugo (formally, the Baron Hudo van der Lyonne) graced our lives with his presence for some 17 years in the 1960s through 1980s. Artist's model, musician, and bon vivant, his image was one of only two non-human nudes in the exhibit of about 100 prints that Minor White chose for "Being Without Clothes" at M.I.T.'s Hayden Gallery in 1970 (also published as an Aperture book.)

He appears to have been a very ambitious lounger.

While my wife and I were out at dinner celebrating our wedding anniversary, Hugo escaped and apparently was struck by a car. resulting in a badly broken leg.
After surgery and two weeks in the hospital, he was allowed home, wearing a splint on the bad leg.

The first day he could move around freely, he let us know that he wanted to go out. Our apartment was on the second floor. If we had let him out this door to our back porch, he had intended to jump down onto the roof of the garage, and from there onto the first floor porch and onto the ground to explore.

We, the cruel humans, refused to open the door for him. He lived many happy years thereafter.

Ambitious, indeed.

The cup of milk was a bribe intended to persuade him to stay indoors for a few more days.

Thanks, Otto. Blatantly violating rules has got me into trouble many times in the past. It's nice to see I've not lost the knack.

Sorry. But that's a great idea. Perhaps with a little Photoshoppery...
