Landed! Where Am I?
« on: April 10, 2017, 10:46:24 pm »

This rock was not like the others,... on St. Joseph Island,... Hilton beach
Now it has its rightful place,... among the other pebbles on the beach.

C/C - not sure where to start. Much depends on your intent and purpose. Document? Art? Textbook? Wall?

Good color theory. The picture is sideways.

Terry, Thanks for the comment. The odd size and shape of the rock and the color caught my interest, along with wondering how it came to rest where it did. It certainly didn't belong there (its as if it "landed" from somewhere). It is much larger than those nearby and has a distinct colour,.. I assume thru natural weathering over time,... or negative environmental impacts.

Maddog, thanks for the comment,  yes the colour had much to do with this capture. I'll pay more attention next time to make sure of the portrait orientations when posting.

I thought the orientation had some to do with the "art" of it!

If you are trying to show "rock out of place", consider showing more of the place to give more context; e.g. a horizontal format with the rock occupying part of the scene, but the rest of the scene being the beach it doesn't belong to.

Terry, Yes , the context is definitely missing. This is the original composition,.... yet I feel I'll need to revisit this place again. Your comments are much appreciated.

Maddog,..  perhaps this is what I initially "saw". The colour and textures on the rock seemed "different".
Thanks for your comment.
