Seems like a great addition to the system.

Priced way too high for a slow 135. Many other options and in this focal length which compete against this lens.

Well, expecting Zeiss to make a cheap lens it's something will never happen. However, I don't see other options which are: native FE, OSS, APO, AF, weatherproofed, and delivering the same quality.

Sure, there are many 135 lenses that can be adapted, some MF, some AF, but again, they do not have the same specs.

Sure, but it's still priced extremely high for a 2.8 lens. I don't think it will sell well at that price.

I like that the lens is an f/2.8. This keeps it relatively light: just over 600g. The price is high, which will keep lotsa folks away. But Zeiss isn't trying to maximize sales…like their other consumer products it serves as branding and marketing for their bread & butter medical/science/cinematography offerings. I might get one myself, but I'd rather have a 45/2 Batis to fill the gap between 25 & 85mm.

Same here. I think that they compromised on the aperture to keep the lens within reasonable size and weight, given their priorities: keep the same filter size (67mm) as the 25 and 85 (they did the same with the Loxia range, where the 85mm lens is f2.4). The inclusion of OSS, and the high ISO performance of the A7 series, makes the necessity of a faster lens much smaller.
