Laser printers, any good ones up to the job?
« on: August 06, 2006, 02:02:14 pm »

Hi All

My experience to date with laser printers is is using the office one (a 4 cartridge Minolta) to print the odd image and web tutorials that have included images.

But I read recently of a company using a Laser Printer to make greetings cards and calendars - I presume for short runs.

However, lasers AFAIK do not have the tonal range to give the image quality compared to say one of the mid/higher grade of inkjets.

So, is there a laser printer within modest budget that will give high enough IQ for greetings cards and calendars? The reason I ask is that the unit cost per card has the potential to be (significantly?) lower for short runs than inkjet and commercial prints stuck to blank cards.

What do you think & does such a printer exist for a reasonable cost?

TIA
