P5000 profiles?
« on: March 29, 2017, 04:12:14 pm »

Just doing some exploring about this new printer. I note that the Epson support website for this printer doesn't yet include any profiles for the Epson papers. Would the profiles for the P7000, using the same 10 UltraChrome HDX inks be likely to work as a starting point?

(I'm not currently set up to make my own profiles.)

Epson's profiles for Epson papers are embedded in the printer driver which you would have downloaded or updated from the Epson website when installing the printer.

Just got my P5000 and started printing with new profiles on both glossy and matte fine art papers.  I have to say I've never ever seen matte printing like this...ever! (I've used the best Epson printers for years...currently the 9880 and 7900) I have all these wonderful Epson, canson, hahnemuhle, etc etc matte papers.  The new ink set with new matte black is unparalleled in my P5000.....Very very close to the glossy prints..and in many ways richer.  Eleanor

Hi Eleanor,

I'd much appreciate if you could indicate specifically which matte papers you've used in the SCP5000 and of those which you think are delivering the richest results.

Mark will do!  I only started printing last night right after I got the printer set up so not much testing yet as I was in a huge hurry to see results.  Papers I tried so far were Epson hot and cold press (excellent!), Epson Ultrasmooth ( needs some profile or image adjustment on shadow separation), and Bamboo (disappointment on one print I tried...lacked shadow richness and separation but I did not have the Bamboo p5000 profile). I was in such a hurry to print a few that I'll get back when I have more time and also try other papers.....Legacy, Canson, Museo portfolio rag, etc.  I will have to try Epson profiles for now on non Epson papers. More later. (Possible I will try P7000 profiles on non Epson papers for now) Eleanor

Sounds great. Haven't seen any formal reviews of this printer yet, so it's good to hear promising results.
