Just had a call from a customer/artist who prints her own canvases occasionally. She normally uses Eco Print Shield for coating, as do I. However, she wants to also apply oil pastels over the printed image, and asked me for some advice concerning the proper coating for such a combination. I told her she might have good luck with the EPS for that, but I couldn't even hazard a guess as to the archival aspects. Therefore I would like to get a bit of information on this from you fine folks, since even though I've been printing canvases for many years I have no experience in this matter. She was apparently told by some source that she would require a solvent coating instead of the aqueous based EPS, but I'm not certain that is absolutely necessary. Some of my customers use a clear acrylic coat to produce brush strokes and perhaps add some acrylic paints a swell, but this of course is a different situation.
