the tethering with lightroom itself is not too bad, images pop up very quickly in LR (after around 3 sec) and it seems to be quite stable. The problem is just once you want to use live view on the computer screen, you have to use the fuji tethering pro app (you have to buy it for 79€), but then everything on the camera is blocked and you have to use on screen commands, which work, but make the shooting process quite slow. if you want to set things on camera, you have to switch the app to 'camera', but then no live view is possible.
For any tabletop / still life shoot, especially if you're working with other people, having a good live view on a seperate screen, is godsend. I just can't get it why this is so poorly implemented with nearly every camera (and I tried most of them).
Sony: Live view tethering only with capture on pro. Mediocre LV image, bloated interface, stupi, STUPID! switch off after 20 minutes, quite slow to show images (due to USB2 on the A7R2)
Nikon: poor LV quality, very hard to judge focus. Controlmynikon looks great, but no mac support.
Leica: no LV
Phase one: pretty decent, stupid 20 minutes switch off (this gets very tiered when you shoot 5 days in a row for 10 hours a day). fast and stable. the older backs require to exit LV to tke a shot. try that in a project where hundreds or thousands of shot are taken. or when youre subject withers under studio lights.
Canon: best LV, DPP is better than what most people think, stable, fast but Canon's cameras have been very underwhelming in the last 4 years.
I can always HDMI tether to a big screen, but I loose a lot of functionality like overlays or guides. biggest problem is when you shoot in portrait orientation, I made a rotatable mount for my screen.
