Iceland in March
« on: March 14, 2017, 05:52:24 am »

Here are a four from the last two days. March is spectacular; the snow and black volcanic rock certainly make for dramatic settings. The low sun angle certainly helps! Roads are clear, but we've had a dusting of snow overnight.

1.  Esja from Reykyavík
2.  Esja, Evening
3.  Hafnarfjall, Borgarnes
4. Vatnsnes across Húnaflói from Skagaströnd

Beautiful set! The third one (monochrome) is my favorite. I hope you continue to enjoy your trip.

I'm jealous already, Terry. ##2 and 3 stand out for me: I wonder what #2 would be like in B&W. Have a great trip.

Here you are. The beauty of snow and rock like this, is it works well in B&W. Thanks Jeremy. And thanks Bob, Eric and Matt.

I'm in Akureyri until Monday, then on to Hvanneryi, then Laugarás. Flying out a week Friday. Great snow up here; not too much to obliterate details, nor is it enough to make driving difficult, but just enough to make the lava rock pop and give all the mountains definition.

Terry,

Beautiful work. The third and fourth (Hafnarfjall and Vatnsnes) are especially compelling.

As requested, a few more...
Yesterday was one of those glorious days that will live on forever. Today, we're into gale conditions after about 5 days in a row of between 2 and 5cm of overnight snow.
Kevin - I hope you're making out okay.

1.  Fishing Hut, Hrísey
2.  Þingvallavatn, Winter
3.  Öxarárfoss, Þingvellir
4.  Detail: Bruarfoss

Terry,  all are great,... especially Bruarfoss, the light you captured in this one , to me, really brings out the clean and pristine qualities of this wonderful country.
