Slider position with iPhone raw files
« on: February 23, 2017, 05:04:30 pm »

Hello

When I edit raw files from my iPhone 7 in Lightroom CC, the sliders don't start at zero. Even if I hit reset image, the whites, blacks and presence are not at zero. Does anyone know why this is?

Hi Daniel

I'm not in a position to test it but my guess is that the ios app you are using in your iPhone 7 may be creating a DNG raw file with these settings embedded. You could have a look at the XMF data in the DNG file (if that is what is being used). EXIFTool Gui is one piece of software that you could use to inspect the metadata in the DNG file.

Another possibility is that a camera default might have been set.  If that's the case, to clear it: hold shift in the develop module and the reset button turn into "reset (adobe)" - then hold Alt and the button becomes "set default".  Pressing those will clear it for that camera (and ISO, if you have that option set in Preferences/Presets) - for files made afterwards.

That iOS app may be Lightroom Mobile

Hello

Yes the images are captured using Lightroom Mobile. Reset (Adobe) didn't make a difference. It's not an issue as such, just wondered why it was that way.
I'll have a look at the XMF data when I get the external hard drive plugged in again.

Thanks

You can always put the sliders to 0 yourself and set that as camera default, so the reset will actually work as intended.
