Half Moon Impressions
« on: February 10, 2017, 03:11:33 pm »

Dunes Beach in Half Moon Bay, California.

A99II with 24-70ZA2, shot at f/16, 1/2s, ISO 50. I panned the camera right during the exposure, very little work in post processing.

Hi Francesco - I think it's great.  If I was trying to sell it, I might cut the bottom half and make it a square piece that features the softer colors and the water more than the sand :)  If it was just for me, and I liked the effect. I'd keep it just the way it is.

You make a very good point, I've been tempted by the square format, I agree it works, but I've received feedback from various people who love the soft curves at the bottom right, that mirror the curves at top left, so I'm keen on keeping the vertical composition. I will try to print it next week to prepare a limited print edition and I'll be trying both formats. I'm so much on the fence on this one.

Thanks!

Beautiful tonalities/colors in the image. Re. crop - just about where your watermark currently is placed (a width equal to the space below watermark) is an option worth looking at. As well, in the current frame the darker area and how it mimics the white water (inversely) is nice element of the composition

I like it as it is, both smooth and dynamic at the same time.
Bravo!
