Hi,
The scratch does show up rather ugly. It is quite deep and will take considerable time cleaning up.
I checked the cost of replacement, it is much more than the cost of the back itself.
My question is whether the cleaning of the sensor after the removal of the IR filter is advisable?
If it is okay, what step to be taken?
Your opinion is very important.
Warm regards.

If the IR filter is scratched, I'm not sure it can be "cleaned". I would not venture to clean the sensor myself. But perhaps a trained camera technician with a clean room environment could do it. If you remove the IR filter completely, you'll have an IR sensitive back. The very first Phase One Backs did not have an IR filter permanently installed. A filter on the lens was used to block IR. There are some people who have replaced the IR filter themselves, and have documented the procedure. Google is your friend.
