Leica R 50mm Lens Communication Problems
« on: January 28, 2017, 11:30:36 am »

I have a Leica R lens F2 with Leitaz conversion to EF mount, then modified by Duclos for cinema use. On my BM Ursa Mini it works great. When using on Canon 5dmk3 it has problems; it sometimes( most of the time ) won't let u take a picture, the shutter becomes unresponsive. When using on Sony A7R2 with Metabones adaptor, it sometimes won't let u take a picture, and then when shooting video it sometimes records for 1 second and then stops. With both cameras sometimes it will continue working for a few frames after turning camera off, taking lens off, and then turning back on. Any suggestions?

I've had a similar problem to this with an adapter on a lens using on Sony E cameras (Nex and A7r).  The adapter was occasionally  touching and shorting the pins on the body.  I verified this by taping the spot on the adapter (solved the problem), then took a dremel to the same spot.

Thanks but my problem is different, it is isolated the lens only because the adaptor works great with all my other lenses including other leica r lenses with the leitax adaptor the have been cine modded. I am hoping there is an area on the lens that can be taped over or dremeled.
