Fuji 18-135mm 3.5-5.6 lens OIS lens
« on: January 24, 2017, 06:48:46 AM »

Positive &/or negatives about this lens - can't find any decent reviews.  I will be shooting with a X-T2 and need a 'walk around - street lens'.  (weight is an issue)

Thanks in advance.

One of the Fuji zoom has been labeled as a dust collector. The pumping action of the zoom sleeve is the culprit, I'm not sure if this is that lens but I wouldn't choose a lens with anything over a 3 to 1 ratio for stills.

I've been using the 18135 since I bought my X-T1. I bought it for the same reasons you mention. It's very versatile with reasonable weight. I use it now with my X-T2. It has not sucked dust into the lens for me.  It is WR so that's worth considering. With the X-T1 I thought the lens was good but not great. With the X-T2 I am more pleased with its performance with regards to IQ.

Here's a review of the lens.

I too use the 18-135mm lens on my X-Pro 2. Not as great as the primes but for walking about it is just fine. Last fall, I used it for shots at a botanical garden and the results were consistently well exposed, well focused and look good even in LR at 2X.

Well, you did make an unsubstantiated claim and some people may see that as trolling. In a different set of forums it may have received a far harsher response.
