Yosemite Closes Tonight
« on: January 06, 2017, 08:49:12 am »

In preparation for the big wopper of a storm that will hit us on Saturday, Yosemite will be closed starting 5:00PM tonight. We learned our lesson in 1997 when flood waters flooded much of Yosemite Valley and washed away the road.  I'm looking forward to watching the river rise from a safe distance.  http://www.sacbee.com/news/weather/article124610109.html

Stay safe. It's good to see the drought abating some, though a more gradual rehydration would be nice.  ;)

This is what happened in 1997. Yosemite Flood
As of now the predction is that the Merced River will rise between 10 and 20 feet.  Duiring the 1997 flood, the river rose 23 feet.  I'm hunkering down wishing I bought that gas powered generator.  I have plenty of food including Abolone!
