How do you know if you need a new monitor?
« on: January 01, 2017, 03:40:30 pm »

Recently I had some issues with shadow details printing too dark/blocked (on a Windows 10 pc printing to Epson sc-p800); note, the whole image was not dark in comparison to the screen, just the shadows were not printing as close a rendition to screen as I had been getting. Before this I rarely had issues with screen to print satisfaction. I use the nec 2690 wuxi2 along with Spectraview software and the nec dedicated colorimeter puck that came with the monitor (xrite mdsvsensor). The monitor and sensor were purchased new in 2009.

I think I have resolved my printing issues. But it did make me wonder how do you know when it is time to replace a monitor. I'm still consistently getting delta values in the Spectraview software below 1. Is this a reliable indicator that the monitor and calibration process is still working correctly?
