X-Pro 2 blinking light problem
« on: January 01, 2017, 07:14:21 AM »

Is it possible to stop the light on the front of the X-Pro 2 from blinking for self timer shots? I think it's the AF illuminator light that blinks, which is already disabled for AF, but it still blinks when counting down a self timer shot, which is a real pain at night for landscape shots or photographing wildlife, or photographing with other photographers who are working alongside you. In fact it's so bright and so distracting I nearly caused a car accident! I have tried searching through the manual, and the internet, but all I can seem to find is how to disable the light for the AF. Any ideas?

I agree that would be distracting at night, in the past with other cameras I have just covered the light with gaffers tape, will that work on the X-Pro2?

I can't find a way to turn off the self-timer light on any Fuji body, so I covered it with gaffer's tape.

Thanks for the responses guys, I was hoping it wouldn't come to that as I bought the camera for its looks, but I guess it's the quickest and easiest option.

What about in silent mode?  Does it still blink?  The older fujis had silent mode by holding a certain button down for 3 seconds.  I assume the new can do it as well?

Use tape, but in general if the light is going to be a bother, I use a timer/release. I have a wired one and wireless one that alllows me to trigger the shutter when I want it.

If I need to be in the picture, like for family stuff, I use the wireless remote or I use the Fuji app on my phone. For things like astro work or astro landscapes I use the controller.

Thanks for the suggestion Alan, in fact a cable release has been on my shopping list for a while, so I've ordered one. I guess that's the best work around.
