Designjet Z3200 New to printing, alot of color issues.
« on: December 23, 2016, 04:56:04 pm »

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. A small introduction: I started selling prints for over 1.5 year. It started with some posters, just for fun. But had some luck and was able to grow my business.

I never went to printing school or followed any courses. I thought a print would just be fine if i printed it with the right software. Well, i was wrong. I want my prints to be more perfect. It irritates me when colors are not correct.

Example: when a image contains much blue, it will become purple. This is on my Designjet Z3200.

I was complete new to printing, so at first i had no idea what was happening.

Now i understand that it has to do with the ICC profiles.

Luckily for me the z3200 has a good ICC profile system on board. I thought this would fix my issue so i started to create a new icc profile ( at first i used profiles from the web)

Before i started to print, i did a 'soft-proof' the results looked ok on my monitor. Thats where i lost directions.

Does anybody have some advice how i can profile better ?

System:
Designjet Z3200
Rip software: Shiraz

Thanks and best regards

First piece of advice, don't use the RIP, unless there is a specific reason you have it.
Make sure your monitor is calibrated, with either an iOne, or Spyder5.

Blues can be hard to print. Use a photoshop Hue/Saturation layer to adjust either or both cyan and blue channels. Print test strips until it matches to your expectations.

The more you print, the better your results will be. Printing test strips will save you time and money.
