I feel like I need a wider crop for reference points like the sky or base of the mountains.

Beautiful light and drama. I agree with George, though. Without the base or something to establish this is Antarctica, it could be (almost) any recently glaciated mountain range.

Thank you both N80 & Luxborealls.  I agree with you both - it needs to be anchored.  (As I look at it again, maybe the base is too dark?)  Happy Christmas!

I was going to make the same comment about the crop so I'm also a fan of the second. Beautiful scene and nice capture!

WAY better with the ocean at bottom.  I'd fabricate a gradient on the water - dark at bottom, slightly lighter at the base of the cliffs. But then, I'm a cheater at heart.

That's better! Now that's a landscape! Beautiful. I agree with Peter about the gradient, except it's not "cheating"! Cheaters break rules and I don't know of any rule book in visual arts.
