Sony FE 70-300 f/4.5-f/5.6 G OSS - Mark II
« on: December 03, 2016, 10:22:36 am »

If anyone has experience with this lens, can you tell me/us what you think.  I'm finding the 70-400mm G lens II just to heavy to cart around with camera and other lenses.  I know it doesn't have the reach but I'll sacrifice that for the weight differential.
Thanks in advance.

You mean SAL 70-300 G SSM II or SEL 70-300 G OSS?
A-mount second version is not much improved over original except for contrast/flare and focus speed. Optically i has very nice rendering (incl. bokeh) and a liitle lack of sharpness across the frame on 300mm.
SAL 70-400 is on different league.

FE has only one version and optically it is completely different - closer to SAL 70-400 in performance and very nice rendering too. So far best 70-300 on the market.
