Hello Endeavour

I've never had an Epson, I get this week a V800.
Did you find it better than the V700, quality, speed?
I wanted some comparative between V800 and V850 but I found none showing the two, just comments.
Do you have more information why you decided to go for V800 and not for V850?

Thank you,

Endeavour

Thank you,

the 850 was between $150 - $200 more expensive and slightly harder to find online in stock (for me)
As far as I could tell, the V850 comes with more film holders and better Silverlight SE software.

But as I dont use silverlight (and if I did I'd buy Ai version separately anyway) and am only scanning in 4x5 negs, I didnt need the extra trays.

There is supposedly a speed increase in V850 scanning over the V800 but I dont really care about that. And as far as I could make out, not any discernible differences in quality between V800 V850

so I dont need the trays, or the software or care about the speed (if any) difference. The $150 extra just isnt worth it, I can spend that on a fluid mounting tray, fluid and mylar sheets.

Thanks

I'm also not importing trays and software.
My concern is only in quality.
Talk about the glass that would be better on the 850, only released over 2 years and to this day I did not see any comparative that showed me that.

Thanks for the answers.

just to update this thread

I went ahead and bought an Epson V800. I'm really happy with it. The detail I am getting with vuescan is great.

The detail you are getting is mainly due to the scanner's optical system and the arrangement of the media.
