Bellows recommendation for Canon EF mount?
« on: November 21, 2016, 10:32:07 am »

Camera will be the 5DS. I'd prefer something similar to the Nikon PB-6 which has a moving tripod mount block rather than the fixed tripod mount positions most bellows have. I know i can add an auxilary geared movement to a fixed tripod mount but I prefer to keep my setups less complicated.

Why not the PB-6? The issue might be no electronics pass-through, but if you are using a reversed enlarger lens or some such with physical aperture ring, that's fine.

Novoflex does make or used to make (aBay) a Canon mount electronic pass-through, pretty expensive, as all Novoflex things are. There are Chinese knockoff electronic pass-through gadgets out there, stick one end on lens mount, add your favorite adapter and bellows, add other end of pass-through gadget (connected to the first by a curly cord) to Canon EF lens, stick lens onto bellows. I have no idea if it works well or at all, I have just seen the ads.

At this point I am definitely leaning back towards the PB-6. I already have a very fine F to EF ADAPTER.

I have a Nikon PB-4 which in addition to the bellows, has a geared focusing rail. I haven't used it in years now.
