H5X syncing with Elinchrom & Profoto
« on: October 31, 2016, 04:19:59 pm »

So I've been shooting H5X, Credo40, Elinchrom Ranger for years (A heads). Just picked up a set of profoto acute 1200s with the Pro D/4 Heads. Using skyport triggers - it seems the profoto flash duration is MUCH slower. Check this out. Full power on all (1100 on Elinchrom, 1200 on Profoto).

Edit, looks like that's it, at full power the profotos have a duration of 1/560

You can speed things up somewhat using a twin head, but the Acute packs (we own a number with DSLRs) are not famous for short flash duration at higher power.

Yeah - did some more investigating. For most of my uses this won't be an issue, and I don't have the budget for the pro system, but it's good to know. I'll still get 1/500 sync at full power and 1/800 at almost all the other settings.
