Today's artsy
« on: October 30, 2016, 03:41:04 am »

Created this piece today using a lo-end 3D terrain app (TerraRay for Mac) with included ship model, then post-processed with Topaz Texture Effects.

Good fun innit

At one point I was planning on creating a series of work using modeling/rendering apps. I have a bunch of stuff archived on my external HDD. I wasn't sure I liked what I was doing, but here's one that I'm not overly embarrassed with.

Modeled and rendered in Softimage XSI - Mental Ray renderer

Thanks for sharing marton!

Here's one I did today in Terragen 4 with postwork in Topaz Impression. The tree shadow is messed up somehow so I am now doing a new render with a different tree which is behaving correctly.

Back in the late '80s I did a whole bunch of ray-trace rendering on an Amiga 2000. I should have many of the files backed up on 3.5" floppies, assuming the disks are still readable…

Dig 'em out, Telecaster!

My first Photoshop 2 works actually survive, first saved on floppies, then Zips, then CDs, etc.

I still have my Amiga 3000 from the early '90s. What a trip it would be if I plugged it in & turned it on…and it booted up! Might have to try it when I get back home. It hasn't been powered on in over 20 years.

It might well work, or the hard drive might have lost its magnetism integrity having not been spun in so long. Let us know what happens!

I miss my Commodore 64! Hard drive? What's that??
Backing up the floppy onto another floppy could take a half hour or more, and the floppy drive often overheated in that time.   :(

Here's another just to keep this thread going

I think I used 3ds Max for this one - modeled, lit, and rendered.

:D  Yeah, that's on the harddrive! Well it was anyway…dunno if there's anything there now. Still haven't gotten around to digging out the A3000. Finding a monitor that works with it could be an issue too.
