Kevin's Photo-Hanging Contraption
« on: October 22, 2016, 12:09:59 pm »

Dear Kevin,
Way back you said in one of your videos that you would reveal to us the method you use to hang ll those photographs on your wall.  You have yet to live up to your promise!  ;)  Those black bars attached o the top and bottom of each photo - what are they?  Can you let us in on your secret?  Thanks!

Simply, those black bars are something I had a friend of mine make.  We are just about set up to mass produce these frames as we have had a ton of requests for them.  Unfortunately, I have had a travel schedule that won't quit and when I am home I am focused on LuLa.  I leave Monday for a project in Iceland and then back for a week before we leave for the LuLa Antarctica trip.  I'll be back and have no travel plans for December or January so we will focus on the production of the frames at that time.  We will offer flat and glossy black and flat and glossy white to start and then we will have a light and dark wood version.  I'll make an announcement and post on the site as well as our email newsletter.  These frames are great for hanging images without the cost of matting and framing and you can change out images in minutes.

A little more patience, please.  Thanks.

Many years ago when I was a teenager I had a similar device to hang posters (mainly Lamborghinis, Porsches and Ferraris) on my bedroom walls.

They consisted of two plastic channels that you slide the top and bottom of your posters into and then hung on the wall, instead of using clear sticky tape to stick the posters up.

Not sure if they still exist, but it was a long time ago.

EDIT: Just found this:

Not the same the ones I'm talking about were much simpler in construction.

There is a somewhat similar system that seems quite elegant available from an outfit called http://posterhanger.com/.

I haven't tried them but I have seen some in use and they look quite nice.

But do your prints get wavy hung like this? I only like flat prints.

My prints are nice and flat but it is all about the type of paper you print on and the size of the print.

I have done whole exhibits this way and they are really nice.

Thanks Kevin, the prints hanging in the video look really wavy. Are those some that have hung awhile?

add some extra weight to the bottom hanger to stretch the print a little more.
