Just to say the Alpa Max is a great camera body: Full 4 way stitching, with the right lens makes your digital capture multiple times larger. Or a 2 way stitch, with some front rise/fall also on there. Auto alignment in Photoshop joins them quickly and seamlessly. I can't believe the file size using mine - about 20k on long edge, almost 80x110" @180dpi, with no interpolation!
There is no pushing or pulling of pixels like other stitching techniques - the lens is locked in place, while the back moves around in a single rigid plane, multiplying the sensors effective size. No pixels are invented or interpolated.
You do need a decent lens with suitable image circle, of course.
