Gluing canvas

Other than Miracle Muck and Glamour II, what type of glue do you use to adhere canvas to gatorboard. Being in Canada, I don't have access to Miracle Muck.

Honestly, I have had luck with white glue that has been thinned out with water so that I could get a nice even coat laid down before it dried up.  It was stuck to a dense piece of particle board type material and still looks great years later.

So that's just the regular white carpenters glue?

Yes, that is what I used.  Actually... it may have even been something like this, a pH neutral white glue.  I see it in my local art stores around here as well.

I remember reading somewhere what the Miracle Muck isn't really anything more fancy than regular white glue anyway.

According to Mr Google Miracle Muck is a PVA glue, so it is probably the same as all other standard clear PVA woodworking glue. We have Aquadhere in Australia.

Thanks everyone, I located some PVA glue at a local art shop. Will give this a try.

If you're going to use glue----I would use the Lineco PH neutral glue.

Mod Podge works nicely. As stated in an earlier post, most of these water based glues will buckle foam core and many of the less stiff media.

Would not use foam core unless you are going small. Many non businesses still use it for its ease of cutting and cost.
We used to mount small canvases to foam core  (Under 16x20) but no longer use any foam core.
Too easy to dent and bend. 100% gatorboard, even for the small pieces.
We use Miracle Muck but also mount a lot of canvas through our laminator using Seals Print Mount Ultra.

I use 1/8th inch white hardboard and glue onto the white side. I glue with Miracle Muck and have had good results.
