Hard Drive problem??
«

I had to erase a corrupted internal HD. I copied everything prior and am now replacing all the files. This process is taking forever--longer than copying the files in the first place.
It is taking 13 hours to transfer 1.2 TB of info from a new Toshiba external drive to the Internal drive on my mAC.
Is this normal or is there a problem?

A few questions...
- internal HD is HFS+ erased using Disk Utility?
- you copied the files to
- you're restoring over what kind of port? USB2? USB3? Thunderbolt?

Use disk utility to erase the internal HD and set up for MAC
Copied files to an external new Toshiba HD via OWC dock USB 2

Something sure doesn't sound right even at USB 2 speeds which, by today's standards, is very slow.
Is there anything else on USB 2 on your computer???

Hear any repetitive, excessive, clicking noises while it is trying to copy to the bad drive ?
Did you run a bad block scan on the "corrupted" drive ?

If you own Disk Warrior now would be a good time to run it against your internal HD

Why didn't you use TimeMachine?
You can't just copy the OS, you need to instal it or restore it.
Did you format the boot partition?
What are you booting it up with?
