Phase one XF cable release
« on: September 14, 2016, 02:10:33 am »

Hello guys,

The cable release for the XF camera is really expensive. Is it right that this is only an adapter for the old release. With power insert?
Thank you

Mine was a complete release, no adaptor.

From the most recent email I received it looks like the Phase One break out box is $399 and works with the older 8/12 pin releases. There will be a power adapter out later, not sure of cost. The new Hahnel release is $99.

The break out box is pretty expensive for what it is, especially since the power supply looks like it will be available at an additional cost.

I love the title of this thread!

 ;)

I was initially skeptical of the Hahnel solution, because the early information gave the impression it would require 2 cables connected to operate, and it just looked hackneyed. Got the first shipment in yesterday, and realized the 2nd cable would only be needed if you required an extended length (2 meters), otherwise it is a 30" single cable into the controller (both are included, though). The quality of the cable seems solid. So I'm actually good on the Hahnel,if you don't require/desire an ac adapter for powering.

Looking that the CI photo from this mornings announcement email I am wondering if the cable the goes into release is a 2.5mm TRS end.

I am hoping for a cable that I can use in various time-lapse controllers. Such as the Ramper Pro, Kessler Second Shooter and the the other is the Dynamic Perceptions NMX.

This would give us total control over time-lapse setups.

I'm sorry but I just get a huge chuckle every time I read the title of this thread :D
I have to figure out how to get my XF to create fables ;)

Great advice on the Hahnel solution and good to see that it works well.  Off to order one...

Hello,
i have recieved the new cable release from Phase One. It is from Haehnel like the charger.
It is in a good build quality. But it is a bit expensive. The cable (0,8meter lengh) could totally removed and enhanced with 1,2meter for 2.0 meter cable.
