This Thursday, 15th Sept, I have a day's training booked in.

Does anyone have any outstanding questions I might be able to solve whilst I am there (London)?

Training? Will this be on a production, final firmware?

I'd like to find out how changing AF point works.

Thanks!

Yes.  Is there a setting that permits reduced file size?  Thanks.

Is their to be a workaround for using a proper cable release.

There are several things I would like to know
-What is the longest exposure time?
-At what exposure is the dark frame subtraction automatic and is there an override if you don't want it?
-When are the zooms targeted for launch and what will be the focal lengths?
-Are the lens hoods metal or plastic?
-Can you program the self timer or are the times fixed?
Thanks!

The longest exposure time is 60 minutes according to specs on the website (http://www.hasselblad.com/x-system/x1d-50c/)

Hasselblads do not use a dark frame, at least not in the way Phase does, so there is no need to override.  On my H4D-40, the max exposure time is 4 min 16 seconds.  I can take a 4 min 16 second shot, and after the shot is completed, turn right around and take anoher without having to wait for a dark frame to be exposed.  The X1D I believe operates in the same way.  IMHO this is a major advantage of Hasselblads for long exposure.  Being smaller, the X1D most likely will generate more heat than the H series cameras, but if that's true and how that may affect long exposures is to be seen.

The rep at the preview a month ago had no info on the lens roadmap other than the 30mm expected to be announced at Photokina.

I think I remember the lens hoods being metal at the preview demo I attended.

They are aware people want a cable release and that info has been "passed up the chain" according to the rep.

I have a few observations and answers for you.

The camera body is about the width of a lighter M-series camera body with a bit more height and then you have to add in the handgrip.

The lens, by comparison is considerably bigger both in diameter and in length then the equivalent Leica lenses. Weight is acceptable.

I asked about the dark slide and was told that this is managed during the exposure where the hotspots are removed which means that the extra time required is not applicable so a two minute exposure does not require an extra two minutes to add a dark side.

In an email I have asked a few of the other questions that will post here that I did not get the opportunity to ask the simple reason that I had not logged onto this site in interim time! Apologies.

How many settings on SelfTimer?

Not sure yet as due in next firmware update at photokina.

Hoods for the two lenses?

Yes, all lenses come with hoods.

Cable release option?

Just the wifi app can be used as a remote currently. iPhone compatible.

B settings?

Yes, there is a bulb setting.

How can we set shutter speeds beyond say 2, 5, or even 25 minutes?

In shutter priority you can set shutter speeds up to over an hour. The is exposure compensation too which can be used in tandem to adjust your given exposure.

From this I deduce there is no viable way to set long exposures in camera in M. It is said this is done via wifi to your mobile device ( iPad / iPhone ).

Intervalometer possibility via any future cables ?

There will be a built in intervalometer function.

Flash is c/o a hook-up with Nikon, so if you have SB flash units you will have full TTL.

Different size RAW file?

They also shoot DNG files and just full size in raw.

Multipoint AF and how to switch between them?

It will be a two stage update - first stage as nine point focus, and then touch screen anywhere focus. For first stage you will be able to scroll through the points to select them.

Depth of focus preview at all?

Yes, there is a dof preview button on the front of the camera.
