First visit to Yellowstone!
« on: August 24, 2016, 12:25:13 am »

Hello! We are heading to Yellowstone at the end of next week. Our neighbors have a cabin in Idaho so we will enter view the west side of the park. I would love to get some "must see" locations in the park from folks who have paid it a visit. Thanks!

Mark,

Two spots that have a name:

Grand Prismatic Spring:

Emerald Pond:

And several no-name spots along the way:

Hi,

I would visit Grand Teton National Park, too.

Here are some images that I took on my latest trip to the US, most of the images have GPS-data, still uploading…

https://echophoto.smugmug.com/Travel/Yellowstone--Grand-Teton-with-GP/

Select image, click (i) button and select Map tab in the info dialogue.

Here is a different set of images that may be better but pre GPS: https://echophoto.smugmug.com/Travel/US-NorthEast-National-Parks/ (description is wrong..., but the link is OK!)

Someone suggested Miles Hecker's photo guides. I recommend them fully. I was actually his first customer on these guides. Found a link on his home page while browsing other stuff and ordered it. In a few hours I got a mail from Miles saying: How on earth did you find that link? You are my first customer!

Miles is no longer with us, he was one of those really nice guys here on LuLa, I miss him.

Best regards
Erik

Ps. On my last trip it was a lot of smog because of wildfires, around 25 or so, in the area. Wish you better luck!

Thanks for the responses! I hadn't seen them and we are literally heading out this morning. We've been to the Tetons, actually wanted to stop again but with the road closed between the Tetons and Yellowstone sadly we'll miss it.

Lucky dog, I had wind in my face the whole time I was there and couldn't get clear shots of any on the cauldrons.
