He even has pictures on the wall and a chain protecting his vehicle (bicycle).
It is a fascinating shot. Did you talk to him at all, or were you as shy as I would have been?

Eric,

I'd have loved to talk to him, but not having a word of Catalan, not to mind Spanish, was a bit of a stumbling block, and anyway, attempting any Spanish on him might not have gone down so well, given the fierce pride people have in their native language, in this case, Barcelona. I found his domestic touches to be quite poignant. I love the way the bike is chained to the wheelbarrow, there seems to be a bunch of flowers behind the picture on the 'table' and it looks like he's just returned from the local market. When the front hedge grows thicker, he'll have great privacy....

Yes, Russ, it looks like a permanent settlement alright - until some developer moves in on his piece of real real estate.
