Synchronizing Metadata
« on: July 26, 2016, 07:45:50 am »

Every time I open Capture One it synchronizes the metadata for all images. Takes quite a while to do that. Is there a way to make it remember what metadata goes to which image, so it won't have to go through this procedure every time it opens up?

The images reside on external storage, the catalog is on an internal volume. Could that be a factor?

Hi,

It might be that you have external sidecars and are synchronizing the metadata. Check the preferences to see what option you have for synchronizing metadata. Go to Edit -> Preferences and click on the "Image" tab, as shown in the attached image.

Unless you exchange metadata back and forth with external programs such as Lightroom, you can leave this to "none"

Thanks Francisco. This not only stopped the synchronizing at startup, it also solved a problem that I had already given up on. Images used to lose their color tag when moved to a different folder. That no longer happens.
