The little note at the bottom of the forum page says that none of our members has a birthday today. Unless there are less than 13 members, I find this improbable.

John, wouldn't the magic number more likely be 365 members ??? ...to correspopnd with days of the year? ...and don't forget that not all members complete the birthday date in the optional personal information fields when registering.

Whoops. That number was an artifact of bad editing. I won't try to start over...in fact, I wish I could delete the whole thing. Is that possible?

It's out there forever.  I recently found a USENET post of mine from Dec 1987 on Google.

Well, I had a birthday two days ago, and tonight I had an exhibit opening (Newton, Massachusetts, Library, through June 29).

So: Happy Birthday to me!

Thank you! Yes, the opening wen't very well. And I now have a hastilty assembled website with images from the show at [a href=\"http://myrvaagnes.home.mindspring.com/photos]http://myrvaagnes.home.mindspring.com/photos[/url].

It still needs a bit of work, but at least it's up.

Now I'll have to check every day for birthdays of others on the LL forum.

Well, another member and I both celebrated our birthdays here on the 2nd and for the rest of you, as someone said in Alice in Wonderland "...a very merry unbirthday to you"

You assume that, with 365 members, each person would have a unique birthdate. We'd need to see a probability distribution for birthdates in order to calculate the chances that a given date would have no members celebrating/rueing the passage of another year.

Must be a slow photographic day/week if I've actually written the above!!  (obligatory smiley)

Yes, we must be very desperate to be even chatting about this I rekon   , but ..yes you are correct when you make comment about assuming that each person has a unique birthday...I was just doing a roughie to illustrate to John that I think he had a momentary brain malfunction.   I was never very good at Probability and Statistics in University Mathematics - it was supposed to follow the laws of Logic - but that logic was always a bit foreign to my mind!
