A quick escape
« on: July 18, 2016, 01:18:07 pm »

This time of year our quiet neighborhood gets loud with a big rodeo and carnival. The carnival sets up directly across the street from my house and dominates what we can see and hear for five days. After a couple of days of we are usually ready to go camping!
This spot is almost exactly six Miles from home on jeep trails on a small mountain that overlooks a few valleys that make up the basin most of us live in here. At night we could still faintly hear the events when the wind is right but it's pretty peaceful compared to our house. Distant fires made the air a bit smoky which I think can add some nice atmosphere to a shot.

Where is this?

The fourth one with the sun up, lighting the foreground flowers is beautiful.

Thank you. That was my favorite too. This is Gunnison County, Colorado, USA just a few Miles from the town of Gunnison.
A great place to live as a landscape photographer!

We have thought about moving there, but we are pretty committed to our present location.  Very nice work.

Thanks! It takes the right kind of person to live here long term, especially during the winter.
I love it here and hope I never have to leave.

very fine tonal management, without the halos and the un-natural contrasts we often see.
excellent set.

I agree, but I like the third one very much as well.
