I am hoping that David will see this question.

The official statement by P1 is that in C1 9.2 the Pentax K1 pixel shift files are not supported.  However C1 does open them, applies a very nice color profile to them and only appears to be off on the sharpening algorithm being applied.  Net, if you apply a bit more sharpening than the normal amount the files appear to be fine.  The thumbnail view seems to have a problem at times showing the adjustments that have been applied but the files export clean.

Just curious on this as it appears the support is much closer than I had thought?

Hi Paul

Does C1 merge the files, or are they displayed as individual pix? Curious, because I am a [mostly] loyal C1 user, and wish to acquire a K-1.

Hey Paul,

I haven't tried the K1 myself so hard to comment.  Its definitely not designed to be supported.

As MC says above, are you sure its the combined files or the individual shots?

Hard to say if C1 is only opening 1 of 4 images.  The images are 162MB and they export the same size as a normal K1 raw, (unlike other multishot raw that seem to 4x the output).  However the files in C1 seem to have the same degree of extra resolution.  Is there a way in C1 to see the file size C1 believe the image to be?

Its [sic] definitely not designed to be supported.

Now that’s a perplexing turn of phrase.  :-\

As multi shot can not be calculated in the current pipeline, it is classed as an unsupported file type.

However, the file is treated as a single shot RAW. We use the first image and the others ignored (which is why you can see it).

Thanks Jim - I believe I was trying and failing to say something like that. :P

“Current pipeline”? Now there’s a phrase laden with ambiguity!  ::)

Well let's all hope Phase One will support this feature in the future. The results from pixel shift are truely amazing. And in most conditions outdoors you can use the feature with no issues.

C1 has an excellent Fuji raw conversion which is also a unique format. Hope to see support for this Pentax feature in a future release.
