Open CL issues C1 9.2 when drawing a mask
« on: June 27, 2016, 07:31:41 pm »

After installing 9.2 today from 9.1, I have noticed a hesitation when drawing a mask, in an adjustment layer.  Effect is that the brush is moving just a few seconds behind your mouse physical movement.

This is with Open CL set to Auto for Display, Switching to NEVER, the problem is gone.

I starting to guess that my environment and C1 are just never going to work out.  Strange, however this issue did not show up in the beta.

For the record, I went through the steps to totally remove all nvidia drivers from my machine using display driver uninstaller (which did find some driver overwrites on this machine).  Then I downloaded the latest nvidia driver from their site.

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html  Display driver uninstaller.

Still running win7 64 bit, 32GB of ram.  GTX970 4GB of ram.

Very similar graphics hardware to Paul using a 4GHz i7 processor and 32GB RAM and am too experiencing some lag in the brush movement on screen relative to the mouse moving.  Smaller brush sizes mitigates the problem but it is definitely laggy compared to the previous version.

Another new bug that may or may not be Open CL related, when you draw a layer mask and then make adjustments with the Color Editor (advanced and Skin Tone), the image view screen applies the adjustment to the entire image, even the parts that are not part of the mask.

EJ

Curious if your navigator window goes all multicolor?  You can still navigate but you can't really see the smaller image it's just a bunch of color lines.

Turning off open CL stops this also.

I don't normally have that window open but I just opened it and yes I get just a bunch of vertical lines

I have already opened a ticket with Phase One on the color editor issue.

Not sure why, but my laggy cursor seams to have cleared itself.  i wonder if my system was doing some background tasks...

Tried again this am. Same problem.

Do you still get the strange colored lines in navigator?

Thanks

Nope that cleared up too as did the color editor preview bug.  Not sure what's going on but after a night's sleep and a morning reboot all these problems are gone.  Very confusing.

Update 1 - just had a hard crash of C1 and now all the previous problems are back. The crash seems to have been precipitated by launching the Navigator tool which I usually have inactive.
Update 2 - as soon as I do ANYTHING to an image file, the program freezes.  No idea how to resolve this.  The program has just become completely unusable after several years of use and never experiencing anything like this.
Update 3 - was able to clear up the issue by a complete reinstallation of 9.2 - fortunately sessions are intact.

Never experienced anything like these problems in C1 before.  I'm thinking there are some stability issues, especially around Open CL with this release.

My experiences mirror yours. I ended up doing a reinstall of the previous version I believe 9.11.

I agree that there appear to be some stability issues currently with open CL at least in the Windows environment.

I also totally wiped out all nvidia drivers and reinstalled the latest from nvidia.
