Scanning with Nikon Coolscan 4000 / SF210 and Vuescan issue

I just got Vuescan and started doing some batch scanning of 35mm slides, and it's was going ok but the the slides go into the machine and then backout without doing the scan. I'm curious is anyone might have any ideas on this. thanks.
