AquaTech All Weather rain cover
« on: May 07, 2016, 09:56:16 pm »

Has anyone used one of these? I'm thinking about keeping my Think Tank Hydrophobia rain cover for my long lens. And buying one of these for my shorter lens. Not sure if it's designed as well as the ThinkTank. A rain cover has gotta be good to keep gear dry during a full day of rain!

I have one of the covers listed below. Suitable for a short lens preferably with internal zooming. I used it on a Olympus EM-5 but it is meant for a small DSLR.

It appears to be well made and very easy to use especially if you have a camera with a tilting viewfinder.

I feel that neither the Aquatech's rain shield or Think Tank's Hyrdophobia were designed for manual focusing. While it's possible on the Think Tank brand, it's next to impossible with the Aquatech.

Since I manually focus all shots, I find this frustrating. I will continue using both of these (the Aquatech for shorter lenses, and Think Tank for longer) for shielding the camera body from rain.

I frequently use a Lee filter holder with an 4"x4" Singh-Ray ND filter. Unfortunately neither of these rain coasts can provide rain protection for them. I am forced to use an umbrella or whatever.

bellimages, I wonder if you could DIY a dark-hood-like attachment out of clear vinyl that would anchor to a wire frame stuck in the forward-most slot on the Lee holder? or a little clear plastic awning to hang over the top of the filter apparatus. I love little artsy-craftsy things I can make mock-ups of at home with scraps.

stamper, thanks, that looks a little more sturdy than my current plastic baggie (although $12.94 more expensive than the 5 cent bag in my kitchen drawer).
