its the TTl battery strobe.

Don't really have any use for a TTL strobe but still interested in what else it can do if you are correct.

More interestingly, if it is a TTL strobe I'd love to see what new radio syncing option they've developed for it to work? Judging by the close relationship bron has with Hasselblad, a TTL attachment for the new H6D camera would also be the first of its kind for MFD and possibly another one up on Phase One.

Very interesting. Who is hosting this event Gazwas, Procentre or Teamworkphoto? I might come along.

not exactly the first... for example radio (not optical) transceivers exist for Ricoh Pentax that support P-TTL over radio... and naturally they work for Ricoh/Pentax 645* MF dSLR cameras ... now you can argue that there are no P-TTL compatible studio strobes yet - only speedlites, but still on camera side you have this "TTL attachment" and they do support HSS as well... so by assembling a pack (to compensate for lower power output) of Ricoh Pentax compatible TTL speedlites you can have TTL and 1/4000 HSS with Ricoh Pentax MF 645* dSLRs , even x-sync w/o leaf shutter lenses is way slower ...

As far as I'm aware its bron/Hasselblad UK hosting the event.

I'd love to go for a nose but frightened I'd spend too much so best avoiding temptation!

You can register for the event here.

not exactly the first...

Its not exactly anything yet......  :P

If there are no other TTL studio strobes out there, then I'd consider this the first if it did actually work with an H6D. Comparing a studio strobe to five speedlites gaffa taped together is not exactly the same thing in my opinion.

I think it's a b1 competitor. Not sure if it can ttl with hassy though. Profoto never did with phase.

Quite possibly not but it will be interesting to see sync options if it is a TTL studio strobe.

So its official. No TTL but very impressive otherwise, albeit a little bit heavy. What do everyone think?

Finally brings a Hypersync or Hi-Sync Mode! They seemingly left it out of the entire release, but I can't wait to test that out... and hope it comes to the Move in the future.

like the battery life and I think it's an important one, but the lack of HS and TTL and its heavy weight are the main disappointments. It seems ancient to me that Broncolor uses a spring to push its battery for eject.

good one haha! But being a location strobe it will be exposed to environment and in many cases extreme ones regularly, i wonder how well weather resistant that spring piece is.

The Move uses the exact same type of spring (albeit two of them) to eject its battery and I've never had issues with mine that has lots of use so I wouldn't worry about it. Not sure what else could be used in this situation to eject the battery as all its there for is to allow removal easier (something to hold on to) and if the spring failed I'm positive with some effort the battery would still come out once the battery release latch is pressed. I personally think the battery placement on the top of the Siros L is a better decision than the side mounted B1. If in some weird situation the battery release latch was pressed the B1's battery would crash to the floor where the Siros L's would stay put plus have the advantage of being inside the head so nicer weight distribution.

Looks like a great unit and would love to have a play with one, in fact the whole Siros line is very impressive IMO but I'm more a pack and head stalwart.

Besides the weather proofing concerns, perhaps from the industrial design point of view it isn't a flattering solution as well. I thought the B1s were top heavy enough, these 800ws lights with modifiers on are definitely light stand bending! When I spoke to the Bron distributor he told me Broncolor would do it differently from the B1 I was honestly expecting a much better location strobe. Now nearly 2years since the introduction of B1s it looks like nothing much exciting has been achieved. It's a nice move for those in the system but it's not a competitive offering industry wise.

Apart form top of the line performance, pricing for Siros L is very competitive. I don't know where this leaves the Move pack. For a 2 head Move kit, you can buy 2 Siros L 400 and 2 Siros L 800.

The weight and the lack of weather sealing is a disappointment though. I wonder if Elinchrom would follow up with battery monohead. Their ELB400 is very well regarding, they can potentially make a much lighter battery head with full weather sealing.

The Siros would be a nice compliment but I wouldn't replace my Move packs for Siros any time soon. Apart from the amazingly small and light weight MobiLED heads that double up as video lights by just plugging into the mains charger or into one of the battery packs (without generator), what about all the specialist heads that need a pack to work? My Move powers a bron ringflash C very nicely.

The weight and the lack of weather sealing is a disappointment though.

Can a powerful, very well built monolight crammed with all the colour/power consistency and flash cut off technology of the Siros be anything but big and heavy?

And can a powerful battery studio style strobe with proper exposed tube ever be waterproof? Is the B1 waterproof? I know some manufacturers are proud of their weather sealed connections on packs but if a head got caught in a heavy rain shower wouldn't it just go bang? I for one would not let any assistant, model or client of mine near a flash head in the rain while I fire it off considering the power they store.

As I said, Elinchrom ELB battery pack & head is weather-proof and extremely compact. I'm sure its not too difficult for them to incorporate the capacitor & battery into the flash head itself. However its true Elinchrom does not have all the Bron's tech.

Bron has weather-proof knowhow, as you can see from their HMI, DW200 and DW400 .. completely waterproof both head and ballast. And I think the voltage inside the HMI ballast are crazily high as well.
