OT new plugin
« on: May 24, 2006, 10:10:38 am »

Hi,

I'm glad to announce the release of one more photo editing plugin,
AmphiSoft Photo Detailer

Although it's primary goal was recovering detail from unevenly lit or poorly exposed photos, along with recovering old faded prints, it seems that the plugin also does good job adding more "expression" to "flat" photos. Hopefully people find it useful.

Hi again,

I'd like to inform you that AmphiSoft Photo Detailer was updated to version 1.1. Update includes completely changed "threshold" behaviour providing better noise rejection.

I wouldn't say so. In AKVIS interface, I only see controls for shadow, highlight and midtones, that make wonder whether the whole filter may be just another sort of "Curves"-based one.

Not to mention, the price is slightly different ;-)

There's probably more "magic" going on, see [a href=\"http://www.outbackphoto.com/workflow/wf_93/essay.html]http://www.outbackphoto.com/workflow/wf_93/essay.html[/url]

Guess you're right. Obviously, I know nothing about internals of the filter, I know only the internal of my plugin, so it would be hard to compare both in terms of algorithm used. It would be interesting for me if other people make some effectiveness\price comparison.
