Wacom Cintiq 27QHD
« on: May 02, 2016, 03:34:53 am »

I am looking to add a second monitor to my iMac 27" 5K setup and also upgrade my Wacom to a Intuos Pro Medium; however I am being tempted with going for the Cintiq 27QHD to cover both needs.

My use is purely for post processing (landscapes) using Lightroom and Photoshop, and I am wondering how well this would work with the iMac and how good is the Cintiq's screen.

I know this is likely to be overkill for just post processing, but I do like the idea of the direct 1:1 pen use instead of the "blind" use on a tablet

As I have not been able to try one, I would appreciate people's  thoughts on the Cintiq for this use

Many thanks

Phil

Those pressure sensitive monitors are a tool for illustrators, not photographic post processing. They enable a direct drawing experience with all the variety and erasing capability that digital brings.

For what purpose do you want a second monitor?

In the end I just went for an Intuos Pro Medium and I feel it is just the right size; but your mileage may vary

I beg to differ, I have been using a Wacom Cintiq monitor for photography for the past nine years. It is a great editing tool with unparalleled accuracy. I ditched the mouse a long time ago.

What is the status with the 27QHD with the latest driver/firmware?

Early versions appeared to be very poor according to most actual user reports. I was also not impressed by first hand experience, it was much worse than recent tablets.

Thanks.

Cheers,
Bernard
