ID MarkII shutter problem?
« on: May 23, 2006, 08:57:00 pm »

I have the 1DMII and have recently developed a problem which I assume is the shutter. At shutter speeds around 1/200(not sure of the exact cutoff) and faster, I get an overexposed band that is in the middle of the frame(horizontal), about 20% of the height. It extends about 75% of the width from right to left and has a definite upward taper at the left end.
Has anyone experienced something similiar? I am packing it up to send in for repair, which I assume will not be cheap, but the actual number of actuations is probably in the 30,000 to 40,000 range, which is quite a bit shy of the Canon literature which suggests 150,000 as the lifespan.
thanks
